Prayer for the Spiritual Renewal of our Parish

Almighty God, we entrust to You our families, our parish and ourselves.

Renew in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit and allow us to experience Your Love,

so that our parish community may be a sign of Your presence.

Enlighten us to the signs of the times and to the spiritual needs of our parish.

May our faith community become Your living Church.

We ask this of You through the suffering and glorious resurrection of Your Son,

who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

All truly penitent Christians who, devotedly attend Holy Mass and offer prayers to Jesus Christ, for the priests of the Church, or perform any good work to sanctify and mould them to His Heart, are granted Plenary Indulgence, on the condition that they have expiated their sins through Confession and prayed in accordance with the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff. This may be done on the opening and closing days of the Year of Priests, on the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Jean Marie Vianney, on the first Thursday of the month, or on any other day established by the ordinaries of particular places for the good of   the faithful.

The elderly, the sick and all those who for any legitimate reason are unable to leave their homes, may still obtain Plenary Indulgence if, with the soul completely removed from attachment to any form of sin and with the intention of observing, as soon as they can, the usual three conditions, "on the days concerned, they pray for the sanctification of priests and offer their sickness and suffering to God through Mary, Queen of the Apostles."

Partial Indulgence is offered to all faithful each time they pray five Our Father, Ave Maria and Gloria Patri, or any other duly approved prayer "in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to ask that priests maintain purity and sanctity of life."

This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of St. Casimir’s Parish. To mark this occasion we are planning the following: parish missions, a book of the history of our parish, a short film, a solemn Mass of thanksgiving and banquet on April 11, 2010, celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Collins. I invite everyone to write a short, half page testimony regarding “What St. Casimir’s Parish means to me.” For this new liturgical year, we propose a new pastoral program titled: “Let us be the Witnesses of Love.” This title is in keeping with this year’s theme “The Year of the Priest” celebrations, encouraging building stronger ties between parishioners and the priests. We would like to ask every family, that through prayer and witness of love, they bring at least one person to our parish community this year. Maybe you know someone who stopped practicing their Catholic faith. Let us pray and bring them to Christ by witness.

Heating of the Church building...

Many individuals are complaining that it is too cold in the church! In response to this, we decided to install new heaters and insulate windows. We would like to complete this project in the summer months. Currently we are doing everything to ensure that the temperature in the church building is comfortable. An old heating system and large windows from the 50’s are a big challenge to address.
